As long as your phone is unlocked, this sim card will be compatible to use. If you are unsure if your phone is unlocked, please check with your current service provider.

To activate the sim card, visit www.optus.com.au/activate and follow the prompts when in Australia. You need to select the "OPTUS EPIC DATA" $30 options for this pack. Your 28 day service will commence once you complete the online activation process.

Please note: When activating the sim, you will be asked for either your passport or debit/credit card details for verification purposes.You can try to activate this sim before you depart your country however, the carriers online activation system is linked with Australia's immigration system so it may not let you activate prior if your Visa is not yet valid/you have not entered the country. Use debit/credit card details for verification if that is the case. If it doesn't work after two attempts then please wait till you reach Australia before activating otherwise you will permanently lock the sim and we won't be able to assist or refund in this situation.

Furthermore, when activating the sim card online you will need to provide an Australian address - please use the address of your accommodation in Australia.

You will receive a 3-in-1 sim card; which includes all sizes (Standard, Micro and Nano). This sim card will fit in any phone. You simply need to just pop out the sim card size that fits your phone.

Yes, you are able to hotspot/tether from your phone to another phone or device.

Australia

You simply need to have both MOBILE DATA functions ENABLED/TURNED ON in your device to use the service. 

The mobile data APN settings should automatically update when you insert the sim card in you phone. If it does not, you need to update the settings so it states the following;

APN Name: Optus Internet

APN: yesinternet

None of the other mobile data APN fields, need to be changed or adjusted, only the above.

Details about APN settings and other important information will be noted on the instruction sheet that will come accompanied with the sim card.

Optus

The features on the sim card are valid for 28 days of service from activation. 

If you are travelling for longer then 28 Days, once the 28 days have elapsed you can simply recharge the sim for another 28 days via the My Optus app.

This Australian SIM Card plan will last 28 Days from when you activate the sim and plan. If you are staying longer than 28 days, you will need to recharge the sim. If you wish to add credit or recharge the sim you can do this online or via the MyOptus app. Or whilst you are in the Australia at Optus stores, supermarkets, petrol stations and convenience stores. 

However, we advise that you visit a Optus store when recharging, as this will ensure that the recharge has been done correctly and you have received the most appropriate plan.

• Any other information about the issue, which will assist us in helping you resolve the issue.

Within Australia

You simply just need to dial the Australia phone number you want to call.

Overseas

This sim card includes unlimited standard minutes and SMS to Canada, mainland China, France, Germany, Hong Kong, India, Ireland, Japan, Malaysia, New Zealand, Singapore, South Korea, Sweden, UK and USA. If you wish to call an international phone number you need to include the country's calling.

For example if you are calling a phone number in New Zealand, you need to dial +64 prior to the phone number. So if the phone number is 021 2315130 then you would need to dial +64 21 2315130.

If you are wanting to call a country outside of the countries noted above, then you should use you can stay in touch with your family and friends by sending them messages and calling them via data based apps such as Whatsapp, Viber, Snapchat, Messenger, Skype, iMessage etc.

Within Australia

If someone from within Australia wishes to call you from their Australian phone number they would just need to call you on your local Australian phone number.

Overseas

If someone from outside of Australia wishes to call they would need to drop the leading 0 and add the Australian calling code of +61

For example, if your local Australian phone number is 0431 123 456, then they would need to dial +61 431 123 456.

Social App

You can stay in touch with your family and friends by sending them messages and calling them via data based apps such as Whatsapp, Viber, Snapchat, Messenger, Skype, iMessage etc.

Yes you are able to call and text your partner if you both purchase a sim card.

If your friends and family have have purchase the same sim card then you will be able to call them and text them directly. However, if your friends and family are using their roaming services from back home, you will be able to text them but not call. You would need to call them via data based apps such as Whatsapp, Viber, Skype, Messenger, etc .

This sim card can only be used in Australia. If you are also travelling to New Zealand, then please purchase one of our New Zealand sim cards.

Yes, you will have access to all your apps, messages, contacts and emails whilst using this sim card. Nothing on your phone is deleted or changed and you can continue to use your phone as per normal. The only change with using this sim card is that you will have a new phone number.
